Mammography
Every woman is at risk for breast cancer. Your best chance for successful treatment occurs when the cancer is discovered early. At Total Woman Care we recommend monthly self breast exams and annual breast exams by one of our practitioners.
Factors that increase your risk of breast cancer:
- Age
- Family history of breast cancer
- Overweight
- Menstruation at an early age
- Late age of menopause
- Not having any children
Starting at age 40, or earlier in some circumstances, Total Woman Care recommends an annual mammogram. Mammography uses a low dose x-ray to examine the breasts, with more than ninety percent detection accuracy. This vital test is the best and safest way to detect abnormalities that may be too small to feel.
